Doctor's Appointment
Finally got my bloodwork... yay for Labcorp taking appointments now. That expedited that whole process. The kids were awesome too.
Then we headed over to the hospital for my doctor's appointment. It was a typical, speedy one. Weight, pee, heartbeat, belly measure. Again, kids were awesome. Ben, of course was mezmerized by the whole thing. He also couldn't get enough of the female anatomy poster on the back of the door... luckily, it was mostly cross-sections and things that were difficult for a five-year-old to visually interpret. But he sure did ask me a lot of questions. Sheesh. (next time, if he goes, remind me to ask for the room with the fetal growth poster instead... )
My doctor asked me one more time if I wanted the first trimester screen and/or the NT scan, both of which I declined, although I did confess that it was tempting because I'd love an extra ultrasound. She laughed and reminded me my big one isn't too far off. I mentioned how we're all excited to find out what flavor this last little Baby Graff is and she thought that was hysterical. Apparently, she had never heard it put that way before.
Then she looked at both the boys and felt the need to remind me that once you have two of one gender, the odds are that you'll get a third of the same. Ya know, I do realize that, and I assured her that would be more than fine with me, but I'd still like to just FIND OUT ALREADY!!!! LOL.
Back on March 10th for my 16-week!

The odds are really higher?? I thought that was always an old wives tale, but hearing it from a doctor it's obviously not. They always told us the odds are always 50/50. I mean, look at the Duggars, they're at 10 boys and 9 girls. That's pretty damn close to 50/50!
From what I have read, the odds are higher if you've had two of the same because it can indicate that there is something predisposing you to having that gender... i.e. your husband may have more than his fair share of X or Y swimmers.
I know enough people though who have had two of one and then the opposite, that I'm not putting all my eggs in the boy basket just yet. I'd say I mostly assume it's going be another boy, but am leaving the door mentally open for the shock of a lifetime if it's a girl. Seriously though, the suspense is killing me. I hate not knowing!

Based on the belly pics, you look like you are carrying the same. But I don't know that THAT in and of itself, means anything. Be prepared, if it's a boy, for the "Oh, were you trying for a girl?" comments? It's a shame what people say. I have one of each and I can't tell you how many times I have been told, "Oh, that's nice. One of each. Now you can be done!" Really? Like, who goes into an ice cream shop and says, "Ok, I will take one chocolate and one vanilla and never come back again!"
As it gets closer...I'll make my "bets" though :)

LOL Lynn, I am definitely carrying the same, I can feel it. I think the only difference is that I started out about five pounds heavier with this one than I did with Simon... and about eight pounds less than I started out at with ben... so the belly is somewhere in between.
I already get the "oh, are you hoping this is your girl?" comments... everywhere... in elevators, at the doctor's office, at the grocery store. It's annoying, but it comes with the territory. I just shrug and say what I always say, "Nah, we just wanted a third child. Either's fine! A girl would be nice but so would another brother!"
