All the Boy Names I Like from the SSA Top 500

An exhaustive list... I am noting any name that I would even remotely consider. Feel free to register opinions on any of them. It would help me immensely. Don't be offended if I didn't list your child's name... chances are, especially if I see you on a regular basis, that I actually really like it but don't want to use it because well, it's already your child's name. ;)

I'll do another list for girls in another post...

I was going to star my favorites, but I don't want you to censor your opinions or taint them in any way. (Also don't want to give away the ones that could most likely be winners.)

-Jacob
-Michael
-Ethan
-Joshua
-Alexander
-William (LOVE Will as a nickname)
-Joseph
-Noah
-Christian
-Jonathan
-Samuel (LOVE "Sam" and "Sammy")
-Isaac
-Sebastian
-Liam
-Henry
-Colin
-Oliver
-Micah
-Jonah
-Patrick
-Peter
-Avery

I can't comment until I know for sure that you are having a boy! ;-)

Honestly? I love all of them! The only one I would avoid is Avery, but only because it reminds me of the girl on Jerry Maguire. (Apologies to anyone with a boy Avery!)

I love Sebastian mostly because I am partial to Bastian from TNS. (btw, has Ben read that yet?) Love Oliver, despite the taunting that is probable from the musical. Will was one of my maybe names, as was Colin, so love those too. A former boyfriend was named Peter, so a big BLECH on that one. Josh and Jake's are kinda common, though Henry sounds so nice. I've known several Christians and ALL of them have been holy terrors. Anne B from school's daughter picked Noah because it wasn't a name that you could abbreviate. And I still like Avery, despite it being swayed by the female persuasion in the past few years.

Just a few ramblings.. hope they're not horribly offensive! :P

I second the Avery comment. Not a bad name but it would be tough growing up. I really like Sam, but not Samuel. I'm a person that doesn't believe you have to have a substantive name behind a "nickname" sounding name. That said, if Piper had been a boy, Luke was our choice, but most definitely not Lucas so same philosophy there. My personal fave on the list though, is Oliver. I probably wouldn't have ever sold Jay on that, much like my other favorite boy's name, Emmett.

LOL, K.... that's why I like Sebastian too!!! (As for NES, Ben and I are about two chapters in, currently... football books have temporarily overridden it as the bedtime story of choice)

Great comments, all!! Thank you!! :)

p.s. I have to admit, Avery, as a boys name has almost fallen out of favor with me. I couldn't totally nix it though for sentimental reasons... it was a boy name from one of my favorite books growing up (Charlotte's Web), as was Colin (The Secret Garden).

Oliver is a recent, but intriguing entry to our name game. It goes against our current pattern of biblical names, which I'm kind of attached to... but we'll see.

i can't believe that out of the top 500 that is all you like!! ha ha =) i obviously love micah, noah and jonah!! my sister in law just had her 3rd boy, jacob - which i love! she also has a luke and zach which aren't on your list. i agree with everyone about avery. not too fond of it. samuel would continue on in your biblical names as would isaac, jacob, joshua, and jonathon...
i like oliver too as you can call him olly =) the only problem with samuel is you'll have 2 s. graff in the household. i had that problem as i had a lot of 'j' names when thinking of a name for ezra. i loved josiah and jared.
i think that isaac sounds good with benjamin and simon, as does ethan!

Janelle, you and I have very similar taste in names... LOL. I think Isaac is probably my current running favorite. :)

(i just lost my whole post =( so here i go again)
i don't like avery, but love micah, noah and jonah for obvious reasons. my sister-in-law just had baby boy #3 named jacob! great name. (she also has luke and zach.) i like isaac or ethan to go along with benjamin and simon. sounds good. also samuel =) (but you'll have two 's.graff' in the future...)

i don't like christian and i don't think patrick fits but i do like peter. sebastian doesn't fit with your bible names nor does william, but i too like 'will' =) i also like olly for oliver!

sorry for the double post...it didn't show up for me!

melanie's little boy is name isaac =)

Forgot to add, I have a friend whose son is named Sebastian and they call him "Baz" for short. That had never been their intention but it kind of just happened after he was born.
