2010....

Well, we're officially in 2010 due date territory now. I actually sorta counted out my cycle for the next several months and wrote the potential due dates down on each "day 1". (yes, it's well established that I am type-a and slightly nuts... to know me is to love me). Late January is the first up to bat, but I think I'll be letting it slide. Just not feelin' it yet. And honestly, not really thinking about feelin' it until maybe a June'ish due date comes around. Birthday season is in full swing around here lately and it is just SO insane. I'd hate to intentionally ADD to ths insanity with yet another birthday. We can't even find a good weekend to do Simon's birthday celebration with Tom's family because it's back to back bdays and Mother's Day!

At any rate though, the time is drawing nigh... maybe... ? Who knows...

I'm a little concerned about how Simon will react to another baby though. He FLIPS his lid when I pick up another child, even my niece. Seriously, goes CRAZY, screeching and flailing and tugging at my lug and trying to knock the offender out of my arms. Ben NEVER reacted that way... you watch, Simon will be the one I totally screw up by having another baby and voila, his middle child psychology will take over. This is the only thing that makes me SERIOUSLY reconsider having a third.

Comments:
Ah yes... You could have another Marc on your hands, and then what would we all do :P

I honestly thought Bryce would be like that too given that he's always been such a momma's boy. I mean, he still tries to crawl up in my lap when I'm in the middle of nursing Piper. But, it's pretty manageable. I think a 3 year age gap is actually pretty good. (I know you've already had success with it.)

LOL, K... I love Marc! :P (actually, I will be soliciting his advice if we have a third as to what NOT to do to piss off Simon since I know he has some thoughts) Actually, my dad is a middle child and is more what I had in mind when I wrote that. My aunt too...But seriously, I know very few middle children who don't have issues with their place in the family... it's a delicate situation.

Sibling relations in general are... I'm constantly worried I'm screwing up Ben because I catch myself saying things like, "You have to do x because you are older"

(sigh)

Unfortunately we can't exist and grow in a bubble. Most of us have siblings and I think most of us are better for having had them - even with the torture that they sometimes inflict on us. Yeah, sometimes it's hard being the oldest, middle, or youngest, but I also don't think that most of us would wish that our siblings didn't exist at all. We might feel like we're damaging them sometimes with the addition of a new sibling, but I also think it gives them different skills for later in life. While it's easy to focus on the downsides of your birth order, there are also a lot of positives to it as well. Yes, it has a lot to do with who you are, but doesn't everything in life make you who you are?

Erika, well said, as usual! :)
